Nei Hau,

The '08 Beijing Olympics was a truly amazing experience. I think pictures say more than I could about how epic is was to be at events like the Gold Medal Men's Basketball game or the Gold Medal Men's Beach Volleyball Match. I would say in no uncertain terms, China had a real moment with the world.

In ranking order, I've listed my favorite "moments". Some of them were amazing, some of them comical, some of them ridiculous.   But put together they made for a top-10 life experience.

And FYI, the most comical and biggest "miss" of the games was the venue food menu. Oh dear, when your choices are "Bread", "Cake", "Sausage", and "President Snack Noodle", somebody didn't do a very good job at consulting global food choices. Absolutely hilarious. On the upside beer was 80 cent (that same person also didnt consult about how much money can be made form concessions.)

Xie xie he Gam Bei!

#1 USA Hoops
The games themselves (Bronze medal against Argentina, Gold medal against Spain) were awesome. The medal ceremony was awesome. I got misty and it was beyond cool to see the best, wealthiest, and most famous athletes on the globe look like happy kids who had just been given candy. And the fact that I met (on a few occasions) most of the USA players was ridiculous (and totally unexpected). I even got a hug from D-Wade as a hello/thank you after my team made some special Converse Apparel for him. Nice.

#2 Heineken House
The Dutch know how to throw a party. The Dutch medalists like to hook up with each other. The Dutch don’t actually need sleep. The Dutch are true ambassadors of beer and fun. Pictures speak for themselves.
#3 Warm Beer & Beach Volleyball at 9am
By far the most laid back and fun event I went to, I got really lucky with weather, seats and company. The morning prior was the Women’s beach volleyball final and it was pouring rain the entire match. 24 hours later – PERFECT Summer beach weather. Throw in amazing front row seats, a great group of Nike folks, an amusing golf cart ride and trays and trays of warm beer, and this was the part of the Olympics that felt like a college Spring Break.
#4 Nests and Cubes
The architecture for the Olympic village was simply awesome. At night, it was one of the most stunning quads I’ve seen put together – the blue watercube next to the red birdsnest all lit up and shiny. It was beautiful.
#5 Random Sports One Only Watches During the Olympics
Okay, favorite randoms this year: Men’s Field Hockey – who knew Men play this sport?? Table Tennis – in China bigger crowds than volleyball!; Women’s archery – seriously all Korean women are trained as snipers I think.
And my favorite FAN moment was this sweet (patriotic) American kid at the Men's BB Gold Medal Game!   His face says it all!
