Hong Kong’s Zoological and Botanical Gardens

Lot’s of monkeys, jaguars, flamingos, birds, and other animals, what’s even better than the animals is the jungle surrounding all of the winding walkways, the fountain with a great view, and the war memorial entrance on Lower Albert Road. This is a quick walk when you have no money and one hour!

The Tales
The Peak

Yes, the retail and dining experience is a tourist trap, but the vintage tram ride and views are spectacular. RUN to the tram entrance in Central when a blue sky day comes your way.
Markets

These classic streets, filled with bubbling vats of live fish, smelly cuts of meat hanging from hooks, stands filled with produce of every kind, carts covered in Buddha and Mao relics, and tables full of cheap knick-knacks are being threatened by greedy land developers and a city government that doesn’t protect the small business man. Hong Kong will not be as great once these old school market venues disappear! Check out Upper Lascar Row (commonly referred to as Cat Street) for the knick-knacks, jade and figurines; Gage Street for the fresh foods.
The Escalators

While it is actually used daily as a commute from the Midelevels, it’s also a great way to see what’s on the second floor of Hong Kong; which includes some of the best restaurants, tailors and affordable shopping in the city. Other points of interest as you make your way up to Conduit Road (the final stop); The Mosque, an ariel view of the street markets and alleys (and all they have to offer), and one of my favorite restaurants, The Phoenix.
The Four Seasons Hong Kong

So here is my favorite place in Hong Kong when I want to splurge. Whether you read a book while taking a dip, have lunch poolside, indulge in the spa, or drop by for a cocktail in Blue Bar, nothing makes me feel more indulgent than this hotel.
